40 Years in Burnham for Family Run Promotional Merchandise Business

From commemorative souvenirs for the Royal Wedding in 1981, to Jubilee coins to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in 2012; an award winning family business is celebrating having been based in Burnham on Crouch for the last 40 years.

Currently located at Dammerwick Farm in Burnham, the promotional merchandise company Impamark moved their operations to the town in 1975, and have since been providing services to a wide ranging client list including St Andrews University, Harrow School, RAF Rugby Union and Rolls Royce. Their local clients include Royal Burnham Yacht Club, Royal Corinthian Yacht Club, Essex Wildlife Trust and Felsted School.

“We have been located in four different premises since we moved to Burnham,” says Nicky Crisp, Managing Director of Impamark. “We have seen a lot of changes both within the town and also within the promotional merchandise industry. It has been a great location for us – a kind of hidden haven in a way. This 40th Anniversary coincides with Promotional Products Week which involves events and promotions to celebrate the importance of using promotional merchandise within your marketing mix.”

The business was started by Nicky’s father, David Thurgood, in 1969 at that time based in North West London. “My parents moved to Burnham on Crouch as it was more affordable to operate from here,” says Nicky. “My father and then I, used to go and see customers face to face, but now with lead times reduced to 24/48 hours on some products this is just not always possible. Time is of the essence, and therefore most of our business is conducted over the phone and via email.”

With a staff of 6 located at Dammerwick Farm and a core network of UK, European and Far Eastern suppliers who deliver direct to their clients, Impamark is looking forward to a continued long and happy future in Burnham.

IMPAMARK SUPPORTS THE FIRST EVER NATIONAL PROMOTIONAL PRODUCT WEEK 16TH – 20TH SEPT

Promotiona Week 2013

Organised by the British Promotional Merchandise Association (BPMA), National Promotional Products Week is a celebration of the Promotional Products Industry. Much more than just a freebie, if a promotional item is useful, then research shows that 89% of people will keep it

B1658B PPW infographic v6The aim of Promotional Products Week is to raise the profile of personalised products and encourage their use within the marketing mix. IMPAMARK HOST FREE BURNHAM BUSINESS NETWORKING EVENT – 11TH SEPTEMBER

Numbers are already almost 50 for the Burnham Business Networking Event to be held in conjunction with Burnham Chamber of Commerce on 11th September at Impamark’s offices at Dammerwick Farm.

Managing Director Nicky Crisp is overwhelmed by the number of local businesses and organisations that have already reserved spaces and says

“I think the timing of the event – 5.30 p.m. until 7.00 p.m. straight after the working day, appeals to local people as they can call in after business has finished and before going home. We are offering low key networking mixed with a glass of wine and nibbles. ”

The event also hopes to raise money with a Fundraising Raffle on the night for local charity Crouch Valley Nightstop

The Nightstop is a coordination service where local people offer a bed for
the night to children who run away from home for any reason. They then try to reconcile between the child and family or at worse arrange more permanent care accommodation.

The police no longer deal with runaways over the age of 13 and social
workers do not get involved until the child is abused or harmed.

According to information received from the police and schools there are 4 or 5 children who run away from homes in the Dengie every month and many of them get on a train and end up in London and normally a life of prostitution, crime and drug abuse. Most children don’t get found again once they get to London.
